A tree for every household

As part of the Welsh Government and Woodland Trust initiative, every household in Wales will be offered a tree, free of charge to help tackle the global climate crisis. 

The first 5,000 trees were given away in March 2022. And there will be 295,000 more trees available between November 2022 and March 2023. 

Sirhowy Hill Woodlands C.I.C is proud to be one of the many designated hubs across Wales whereby you can collect your free tree.

How do I get my tree?

Pickup hubs around Wales will open in November 2022, Sirhowy Hill Woodlands is one of designated hubs for the areas of Blaenau Gwent (Tredegar, Ebbw Vale, Cwm, Brynmawr & Abertillery).

What type of tree will I receive?

All trees will be native, broadleaf species that will grow into small-medium sized trees suitable for gardens and smaller spaces. They’ll come with planting instructions so you can give them the best start. As they mature they’ll lock up carbon, fight the effects of climate change and support wildlife our friendly helpful volunteers will help you choose a suitable tree for your garden/site.

When can I collect my tree?

Sirhowy Hill Woodlands will be running the My Tree, Our Forest hub between the following dates on specific days, that is Wednesdays and Saturdays, between 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Please see the events calendar for dates.
